PAT ANDREA

1942

Born in The Hague in 1942, Pat Andrea studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. In the 1970s, he moved to Paris and established himself as a major figure in Narrative Figuration. His unique universe, combining sensuality, dramatic tension, and cinematic aesthetics, has long attracted collectors and institutions. His paintings combine classicism and incisive neo-expressionism, subtly blending sexuality, fear, and desire to create images that are both playful and disturbingly intense. True one-act dramas about everyday human emotions, his works explore eroticism and violence in representations of men and women that are both raw and delicate. Pat Andrea currently lives and works between Buenos Aires, Paris, and The Hague.
